Firstly, I would like to congratulate the 2nd XI football squad who last week won the East Kent Premier League.  This is a massive achievement for the players and the school.  In other football news, on Wednesday the 1st XI football squad take on Wilson’s School in the last 32 of the National Cup.  The squad has done so well in getting this far, but with it being the last 32, the competition is bound to be pretty strong.  Good luck to all the players and thank you to Mr Hughes for supporting the squad all season.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of presenting those Year 12 students who were at MGS in Year 11 with their GCSE certificates at our annual GCSE Certificate Presentation Afternoon.  Joining the year group were a number of parents as well as Mrs Ceri Norey, chair of governors.  Congratulations to all those who received a certificate.

Today, parents of Year 13 hear from their child’s teachers at the Year 13 Parents’ Evening.  With six months to go before the A level examinations, now is a good time to prepare for the final push and utilise the mock exams in January to understand what needs to be done.

On Wednesday and Thursday this week Year 8 take part in a two-day activity to understand what their futures might look like beyond MGS.  Called the Year 8 Careers Days, students will complete a series of task and hear form a number of people about what opportunities are out there and what GCSE subjects they should consider to support their strengths.
